We do not think there is someone who has never felt the uncomfortable and tiring feeling specific to Monday mornings. On Monday morning, more than any other morning, everything is more difficult to do - from getting out of the bed to being productive at work. This can be true even to those residents at senior living and nursing homes in Amarillo TX and others around the nation.
“Monday blues” is a concept that we hear often, these days. Mondays are” blue” precisely because of that sad feeling after the weekend, combined with laziness and lack of interest for pretty much everything. No enthusiasm, no zeal… This is the real meaning of this concept.
As about its origin, it seems that it has to do with a holiday company, which claimed, sometime in 2005, to have calculated the most depressing day of the year, using an equation. This day seems to be in January (the third Monday of this month), being named “Blue Monday”. The equation used to determine this particular day includes various factors such as weather, budget and debts, time since the winter holidays, low motivational levels etc. Considering that it takes into account the weather conditions specific to the winter, “Blue Monday” applies only to the Northern Hemisphere.
Of course, all this so-called facts represent only pseudoscience. Specialists rather talk about social de-synchronization after the weekend and the modification of the sleeping hours that may cause the symptoms associated with the Monday blues.
