Celebrating The Holidays in Assisted Living

Christmas Activities

Winter holidays are a great opportunity to meet your entire family, and the lucky ones who have a harmonious family do their best to not miss it. However, there are also people who live in different assisted living communities, some of them alone, others suffering from different diseases or simply from the burden of their age. Fortunately, assisted living facilities provide their residents with many opportunities to celebrate the holidays and find reasons to enjoy them, even if the setting may look a bit different than the stereotypical picture of a multi-generational family gathered around a festive table.

Some assisted living residents are allowed to leave their communities during the holidays and stay with their families for a few days. Some are even allowed to visit skilled nursing facility Abilene TX has during this time frame however, most of them will stick around the communities due to several reasons: health issues that require permanent monitoring, the other family members live too far away and a trip would be too exhausting, there are no family members left etc.

During the holiday seasons, communities typically host all kind of themed activities that include baking, shopping sessions, gift wrapping sessions, decorating the rooms and various holiday entertainment  (carol sing-a-longs, movie nights etc.)

Friends and families are encouraged to visit; assisted living communities often organize holiday parties and meals.
