Mother’s Day is a celebration when sons and daughters do whatever they can to make their mothers happy and to express their gratitude. The most popular ways to celebrate the day is to surprise mothers with small gifts, such as flowers and chocolate and to give mothers a day of leisure, taking them to a spa or to a picnic. However, if your mother lives in a senior community, the space and the possibilities for celebration are somewhat limited, so here are a few tips for celebrating the day at the senior living facility:
- Start planning early – Mother’s Day celebration is all about having the right people around. If you have brothers and sisters living far away and you want to include them into the celebration, start organizing the event as early as you can to allow everyone to include the event into their schedule;
- Figure out the best gift – find out what would make your mother really happy. Is it a spa day or just time spent with the grandkids?
- Arrange for the space and the catering – many senior living communities can provide tea and sandwiches and you can rely on the staff at the facility to reserve a small space for you and your family. However, if you want something special, such as a special cake, you will have to arrange for it yourself.
