Texas is a huge and spectacular state that takes a lifetime to explore, but has a lot to offer to one-time visitors as well. If you are a senior looking for some easy daytrips to explore the state’s beauty and richness, here are our top tips for you:
- The caverns in Sonora – located at a four-hour drive from San Antonio, the caverns reveal amazing treasures. The trails are safe and easy to walk and the cool air in the caves is in a pleasant contrast with the hot air that dominates Texas in fall, too;
- Lake Sam Rayburn – if you are located in Beaumont, this spectacular lake is just a one-hour drive away. The landscape is beautiful and perfect for some relaxation or, if you are looking for a way to spend the time actively there, you can go boating or bring a fishing rod;
- Inks Lake State Park – you can enjoy water-based activities on the lakes in this park, too. Located at a one-hour drive from Austin, the park is perfect for some easy hiking as well, maybe you can take your grandkids and spend a day of fun together, enjoying the warm weather and the scenery. It's best to take a trip to the physical rehabilitation centers prior to going on a long hike, just to get your body warmed up and ready to go.
