Holiday Traditions We Love to Celebrate

Senior Holiday Traditions Near MeHolidays are about being together, enjoying great food, having lots of fun and also about celebrating family traditions including your loved ones at senior living near me centers.  Here are some of the most commonly observed traditions – they are not celebrated the same way in every family, but in some form or other they are very much part of the holidays:

  • Decorating the Christmas tree – some families have trees decorated with colorful ornaments, many of which are cherished family heirlooms passed on from generation to generation, in other families, the trees are decorated in one trendy color, but the decorated tree is an essential part of the winter celebrations;
  • Decorating the home – homes, especially the entrance, the hallway and the family room or living room is another essential activity for celebrations. Many families include crafting into the process, with the entire family creating handmade decorations together;
  • Holiday meals – every family has heirloom recipes that everyone is looking forward to. Whether it is delicious cakes, cookies, pies, hearty meat dishes, soups or casseroles, cooking is an essential part of celebration and so is enjoying the meals together;
  • Gifts – gifts don’t have to be expensive or big, but they have to be heartfelt and chosen with care and love.
